Due to ongoing dry conditions and prevailing high winds, Fire Marshal Colorado Cordova of the Los Alamos Fire Department (LAFD) has enacted fire restrictions to Stage 1, effective April 28, within the boundaries of Los Alamos County to safeguard public health and safety, as well as protect lands, structures, natural and historical artifacts. Los Alamos County Parks and Open Space Division has announced the Piñon Splash Pad at 10 Sherwood Blvd. in White Rock will open for the season at 10 a.m., Friday, May 22.
The Splash Pad is operational 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., seven days a week, and is scheduled to be open through Labor Day weekend, September 1, 2026.
Adult supervision is recommended for the Splash Pad area, as this is an unsupervised facility. Athletic or similar equipment is not allowed, and animals are prohibited. Those using the facility are asked not to climb on the water features for safety and maintenance reasons.
The County reminds the community to play safely, have fun, and help keep the Piñon Park Splash Pad clean and in good condition for all to enjoy.
