Vehicle Theft Arrest
Published on August 20, 2025
At approximately 9:15 AM on August 20, 2025, a female suspect stole a Los Alamos County vehicle from the area of Ashley Pond. Los Alamos Police Department officers began canvassing the community in search of the stolen vehicle.
A Bandelier National Monument Park Ranger later located the vehicle unoccupied at the White Rock Library, approximately 90 minutes after the initial call. Responding officers initiated a search of the area and located the female suspect inside the women’s restroom of the library.
The suspect was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Los Alamos Detention Facility. Upon booking, she refused to provide any identifying information and was processed as Jane Doe. She faces charges of unlawful taking of a motor vehicle and concealing identity. Additional charges may be pending as the investigation continues.
The case remains under active investigation by Los Alamos Police Department detectives.
