Due to ongoing dry conditions and prevailing high winds, Fire Marshal Colorado Cordova of the Los Alamos Fire Department (LAFD) has enacted fire restrictions to Stage 1, effective April 28, within the boundaries of Los Alamos County to safeguard public health and safety, as well as protect lands, structures, natural and historical artifacts. The hydroelectric plant in Abiquiu has two identical 6.9MW turbine/generators that were installed in 1987. Each unit has two servos per turbine that operate the wicket gates. Los Alamos County had all four servos rehabilitated approximately 10 years ago. The servos are leaking hydraulic oil again and will be replaced.
