Housing Development

Los Alamos County Strategic Goal for Housing is "Increasing the amount and types of housing options. This includes a variety of housing options for all segments of the community, from affordable, entry-level, and live-work housing to new options for those interested in downsizing or moving closer to central areas of the community." With that in mind the Economic Development Division is working with developers on the following projects and initiatives currently underway.

Housing Projects

North Mesa Housing

Develop workforce housing on a 30-acre +/- tract of land on the North Mesa, between the Los Alamos Middle School, the North Mesa Sports Complex, North Mesa Road and San Ildefonso Rd. The land is currently owned by the Los Alamos Public School district. The overall goal is to generate a preferred concept plan for housing that can be carried forward into design and development.

DP Road A-8-A

A Solicitation was posted in July 2024 for the County-owned lot on DP Road in Los Alamos.

20th Street Mixed-Use Development

The County Community Development Department, Economic Development Division, seeks a qualified and innovative respondent to purchase and improve certain county-owned parcels collectively known as the 20th Street redevelopment.
