Mosaic Assembly Art Workshop

Join us for a fun, free, community powered art experience that pairs perfectly with ChamberFest and SummerFest weekend and helps create a colorful new landmark along Trinity Drive. The Art in Public Places Board has commissioned a vibrant mosaic for the south facing wall of the Justice Center.

During this three-day, hands-on event, the library’s third floor will transform into a lively community workshop where people of all ages and abilities can place colorful glass tiles using the artist’s no-mess, guided template system. No experience is needed and every participant becomes part of creating a permanent public artwork.

Public input helped ensure this artwork honors the natural environment of Los Alamos. Through community surveys and public input, residents helped the Art in Public Places Board confirm which native flora and fauna should be represented and ensured the design would be a good fit for our community. Now come join artist J Muzacz and his team to help assemble this vibrant mosaic masterpiece. Your participation helps transform a community verified design into a finished mosaic that the artist will install the following week. Come enjoy a joyful, hands-on art experience and help create a mosaic masterpiece that will represent Los Alamos for years to come.

Reservations

Reservations strongly encouraged so every participant can take part.

Registration opens Friday, May 1.

Drop-ins welcome as space allows.

Young children will need appropriate, responsible supervision while participating.
