Candidates qualified for June 2 primary election

The Los Alamos County Clerk’s Office has completed the candidate qualification process for the upcoming primary election to be held on Tuesday, June 2.

 

Candidates seeking placement on the primary election ballot were required to file the appropriate paperwork and meet all statutory requirements established by the State of New Mexico on March 10. Following review and certification, the following candidates have qualified to appear on the ballot for Los Alamos County voters:

 

State Representative, District 43
• Christine Chandler, Democrat

 

Magistrate Judge
• Catherine E Taylor, Democrat

 

County Councilor

• David E Hampton, Democrat

• Joseph F Granville, Democrat

• Theresa A Cull, Democrat

• Steven S Lynne, Democrat

• Melanee M Hand, Democrat

• Eric Roland Stromberg, Republican

• Jason Alan Chappel, Republican

 

County Sheriff
• Antonio L Maggiore, Democrat

• David Izraelevitz, Democrat

 

County Assessor
• Jeff Casalina, Democrat

 

Probate Judge
• Perry C Klare, Democrat

 

Municipal Judge
• Elizabeth K Allen, Democrat

 

The primary election will determine each major political party’s nominees for offices appearing on the ballot in the November general election.

 

Beginning in 2026, New Mexico will operate under a semi-open primary system, allowing voters registered as “Decline to State” or independent to choose to participate in one major party’s primary election. Voters registered with a political party will continue to vote in their party’s primary.
