The Los Alamos County Recreation Division invites young women from across Northern New Mexico to participate in the Northern New Mexico Fair & Rodeo Queens Court Competition on Saturday, May 16, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
This annual event celebrates confidence, horsemanship, and public speaking, offering participants ages 6 to 25 the opportunity to showcase their skills, gain valuable experience, and represent their communities.
Contestants will compete in several areas, including horsemanship, an interview and personality assessment, a written test, and public speaking. The day begins at Brewer Arena with the riding portion and continues at the Los Alamos County Golf Course for speeches and interviews.
Competition categories include:
- Jr. Sweetheart (ages 6–9)
- Sweetheart (ages 10–13)
- Princess (ages 14–16)
- Queen (ages 17–25)
Participation is free, and all eligible contestants are encouraged to register by May 13 at 5:00 p.m. on our Online Registration Portal or by submitting a paper application prior to the deadline.
Additionally, there will be an opportunity to participate in a Queens Court Clinic on Friday, May 1, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. at Brewer Arena, and then moving over to the Golf Course at 7:00 p.m. The clinic will be hosted by Miss Rodeo New Mexico, Alyssa Sauter. Registration fee is $10 per participant.
The Queens Court Competition is a longstanding tradition that highlights leadership, poise, and community pride while fostering personal growth and confidence in young women throughout the region.
