Due to ongoing dry conditions and prevailing high winds, Fire Marshal Colorado Cordova of the Los Alamos Fire Department (LAFD) has enacted fire restrictions to Stage 1, effective April 28, within the boundaries of Los Alamos County to safeguard public health and safety, as well as protect lands, structures, natural and historical artifacts. Starting Monday, Sept.15, 2025, construction work to improve drainage will begin at the Los Alamos Police Department. The project is expected to continue through mid-October.
During this time, multiple parking spaces in the north parking lot will be barricaded or unavailable. While the construction will not impact on department operations or services, we kindly ask all visitors to use extra caution when entering the parking lot due to increased congestion and construction personnel in the area.
