Due to ongoing dry conditions and prevailing high winds, Fire Marshal Colorado Cordova of the Los Alamos Fire Department (LAFD) has enacted fire restrictions to Stage 1, effective April 28, within the boundaries of Los Alamos County to safeguard public health and safety, as well as protect lands, structures, natural and historical artifacts. In an effort to follow the Los Alamos County Sustainability Plan and reduce its carbon footprint, Los Alamos County Golf Course has received a new fleet of golf Carts, which are 100% electric. To help celebrate this milestone, the Community is invited to symbolically view the switch from gas to electric and to view the new fleet on Friday, June 20, at 9:30am. Refreshments will not be provided, but feel free to stick around to tour the carts and their storage area, the new water feature off the back patio, and view the driving range up close, and then grab some lunch at Cottonwood on the Greens, which opens at 11:00am.
Over the past 3 months, Los Alamos County staff have been working to modify the existing clubhouse cart storage to accommodate the new Yamaha fleet with no less than 60 power outlets for the vehicles to charge overnight. Additionally, the new fleet features a Yamatrack GPS Unit with 10” screen on each car, which will provide geofencing for the Course and additional messages for the golfer.
