Due to ongoing dry conditions and prevailing high winds, Fire Marshal Colorado Cordova of the Los Alamos Fire Department (LAFD) has enacted fire restrictions to Stage 1, effective April 28, within the boundaries of Los Alamos County to safeguard public health and safety, as well as protect lands, structures, natural and historical artifacts. Beginning the week of Monday, March 24th, Los Alamos County Environmental Services will resume residential curbside brush cart collection (brown bins).
In response to elevated wildfire concerns, additional brush collection services are temporarily being offered from March 24 through May 9, 2025. These additional services are as follows:
As a reminder, residents can drop off yard waste at the Eco Station seven days a week, and at Overlook Convenience Center in White Rock Friday through Tuesday (3 cubic yard load restriction). Regular bulk service collection is also available year-round for a small charge.
The curbside brush program offers a convenient way for residents to dispose of their yard waste while helping to keep neighborhoods clean and safe, while these temporary program enhancements offer another way to help reduce the threat of wildfires.
