Due to ongoing dry conditions and prevailing high winds, Fire Marshal Colorado Cordova of the Los Alamos Fire Department (LAFD) has enacted fire restrictions to Stage 1, effective April 28, within the boundaries of Los Alamos County to safeguard public health and safety, as well as protect lands, structures, natural and historical artifacts. The Public Works and Community Services departments has announced that the second of three public meetings on the initial conceptual phase of shade structure options for the Los Alamos Ice Rink has been scheduled to April 10, 2025 at 5:30, at Council Chambers as part of the regularly scheduled Parks & Recreation board meeting. Staff are currently evaluating the feasibility of various proposed structure types for a potential cover at the rink.
