Due to ongoing dry conditions and prevailing high winds, Fire Marshal Colorado Cordova of the Los Alamos Fire Department (LAFD) has enacted fire restrictions to Stage 1, effective April 28, within the boundaries of Los Alamos County to safeguard public health and safety, as well as protect lands, structures, natural and historical artifacts. Access to the Canyon Rim Trail from the Eastern trailhead, extending for 0.5 miles, will be temporarily closed for culvert installation beginning Tuesday, April 15, 2025. The work is expected to be completed within one day. During the closure, trail users are encouraged to access the Canyon Rim Trail from the Western trailheads.
