Swentzell’s “The Pueblo Food Experience” is a book of recipes and history that details the foodways of northern New Mexico’s that have been tradition for centuries. Swentzell built a home garden over the last many decades that incorporates traditional growing techniques, reviving seed varieties, and rebuilding historic baking ovens. She has taught workshops about traditional gardening and cooking methods, and she has published her work on introducing traditional recipes to younger generations.
As a gifted sculptor and artist, Swentzell also is well-regarded as a mainstay of the New Mexico art community. Her award-winning work is often showcased at galleries and exhibits in the region and around the world, including the Museum of Indian Arts and Culture in Santa Fe and the Smithsonian’s National Museum of the American Indian. She also owns Tower Gallery in the Poeh Cultural Center on the Pojoaque Pueblo where you can see her curation of important work in sculpture through group exhibitions.
