Due to ongoing dry conditions and prevailing high winds, Fire Marshal Colorado Cordova of the Los Alamos Fire Department (LAFD) has enacted fire restrictions to Stage 1, effective April 28, within the boundaries of Los Alamos County to safeguard public health and safety, as well as protect lands, structures, natural and historical artifacts. September is National Recovery Month and the Los Alamos County Social Services Division and the Los Alamos County Health Council have planned community events to foster support and connection. Free and open to everyone, the events aim to promote recovery and hope, and to break down the stigma surrounding addiction and mental health. No registration is required, and individuals can arrive at the location on the date and time to participate. The last event is:
Paint the Rock: Finally, on Saturday, Sept. 28, at 10 a.m., paint messages of recovery and hope on the rock in White Rock, located at the corner of NM4 and Rover Boulevard. This event continues the theme of breaking down stigma and fostering community solidarity. Art supplies will be provided.
