Los Alamos County’s Art in Public Places Board (APPB) invites residents and visitors to take part in a free, hands‑on community art experience June 5–7 at Mesa Public Library in Los Alamos, where participants will help assemble the new Justice Center wall mosaic.

The large-scale glass-tile mosaic will be installed on the south-facing exterior wall of the Los Alamos Justice Center. The finished artwork will highlight native flora and fauna selected through extensive community input gathered during multiple public surveys over the past two years. This collaborative design process helped ensure the artwork reflects the natural environment of Los Alamos while adding color, vibrancy, and a strong sense of place to one of the County’s most visible civic spaces along Trinity Drive.

During the three-day workshop, the library’s third-floor large room will transform into a lively community workshop where participants of all ages and abilities are invited to join artist J Muzacz and his team in placing colorful glass tiles using the artist’s simple, no‑mess guided template system. No prior art experience is needed—just enthusiasm and a willingness to contribute to a lasting piece of public art.
