The Los Alamos County Traffic & Streets Division will be turning off the power to some neighborhood streetlights to enhance the viewing of holiday farolitos. The streetlights will be turned off starting Friday, Dec. 20 and will be restored on Thursday, Dec. 26.
Turning off streetlights is by request only. Please contact Los Alamos County Traffic and Streets at 505-662-8113 or Aaron Park at aaron.park@lacnm.us to make a request.
For safety purposes, the Traffic & Streets Division requests that all vehicles and trailers be moved to off-street parking for the full time that the streetlights will be off. If this is not possible, it is recommended that the vehicles and trailers be silhouetted by farolitos. Due to the limited sight visibility during the viewing, drivers are requested to travel all viewing areas at a maximum of 15 miles per hour.
Streets affected by the turn off include:
Barranca Mesa White Rock
Barranca Road Brighton Drive
Los Pueblos (inc. side streets) Briston Place
San Juan Barcelona Ave.
Totavi Alhambra Drive
Navajo Road Balboa Drive
