View current updates and traffic impacts for road construction projects and special events below.  Click live links for mapped locations and detailed project information. Active projects will be updated as needed.

Essential services—including mail delivery, trash and recycling collection, and emergency response—will continue throughout each project. Residents and businesses may still experience large equipment and construction noise.

Motorists and pedestrians are reminded to use caution, reduce speed near work zones, and follow designated detour routes.

Road and Utility Work


Denver Steels Phase II Improvement Project

Construction activity for the week of June 15, 2026

TLC Plumbing and Utility will continue working on Pueblo Drive, 36th Street, and Ridgeway Playlot.

NOTE: Vehicles shall be removed from these roads during construction activities. (7 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday)

Construction operations
  • Pueblo Drive
    • Crews will finalize paving the roadway.
    • Crews will continue to install sidewalks and drive pads.
  • 36th Street
    • Crews will finalize paving the roadway.
    • Crews will continue to install sidewalks, drive pads, curbs, and gutters.
  • RidgewayPlaylot
    • Crews will finalize paving the roadway and parking area.
Traffic control
  • During construction, road closures, lane restrictions, and detours will be in place.
  • Follow all work zone signs and exercise caution.
  • Access to residents will be maintained.

East Road 14" Water Transmission Line Replacement

Construction activity for the week of June 8, 2026

NM Underground Utilities, Inc will commence work on Monday, June 8

NOTE: While this project will not directly impact traffic flows, motorists should exercise caution through this area.

Construction operations
  • Construction access points are east side of Fire Station 6 entrance and at the first curve in NM502.
  • Replacing 14" steel water transmission main with new 14" ductile iron transmissions line.
  • Construction will primarily occur off-road across from the Los Alamos Airport.
Traffic control
  • Barrels and concrete wall barriers in place at start and end of work zone.
  • Follow all work zone signs and exercise caution.

Concrete Work

Roadway Striping

Location: County-wide continuing in the Townsite

Date: April 27 - June 22, 2026

Time: 6:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Impact: Moving traffic control

Work: Striping roads County-wide

NMDOT Project

NM-4 road rehabilitation work through White Rock

Construction work will consist of milling the old pavement and repaving the road surface. Construction will take place Monday through Saturday, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

During construction, one lane will be closed, and a pilot car will be on hand to guide motorists through the construction zone. Motorists are strongly encouraged to wait for the pilot car to pass them in the direction they want to travel before attempting to enter the construction zone. Motorists should expect delays and are urged to plan travel accordingly.

  • Phase 1: Milepost 64 (Rover Boulevard) to milepost 66.7 (East Jemez Road)
    • Expected construction duration: 2 days
    • Expected start date: Friday, May 29, 2026
  • Phase 2: Milepost 62.2 (Monte Rey Drive South) to milepost 49.5 (West Jemez Road)
    • Expected construction duration: 3 weeks
    • Expected start date: Monday, June 1, 2026

Ongoing Projects

Trinity Drive Safety and ADA Improvements (Oppenheimer to Knecht)

This project is in the preparation phase. Final bid award approval expected at the May 6 Board of Public Utilities meeting and the May 19 County Council meeting. Once approved, the project is expected to kick-off in June.

Jemez Mountain Fire Protection Project

Camp May Road closures are in place for the Jemez Mountain Fire Protection Project

Installations of water pipeline and other service conduits up Camp May Road are complete. Paving operations have begun. See the list below for the status of Camp May Road, Camp May, and access to adjacent trails.

  • All will remain closed to the public from Monday morning through Thursday at 5 p.m. through April 30.
  • All will be open from May 1 to May 31.
  • Beginning June 1, all will be closed Monday through Thursday as Phase III (the final phase of the project) is conducted. This work is expected to continue until the end of the year.
