Community Development Department permits

The Community Development Department leads the County's economic vitality and housing initiatives. Apply for permits with this team that pertain to work on your home or business.

 

Apply online

Apply for a building permit, renew a business license, pay invoices, request inspections, search public records, and get an estimate of a fee.

Once an application is submitted online, please check the CSS Dashboard frequently for updated permit review status, information on holds providing or requiring additional information, and invoices waiting for payment.

If you see a permit is on hold in CSS, please email permit.techs@lacnm.us once you have addressed the issue or provided the required information.

Citizen Self-Service (CSS) profile

In order to use the Citizen Self-Service (CSS) portal to work on your permits, you need to first create a profile. Follow these steps to get started.

  1. Navigate to the CSS website.
  2. Select the "Login or register" tile from the front page.
  3. Scroll down and select the "Create an account" option.
  4. Fill in the appropriate information and select "Sign-up".
  5. Verify your email address.
  6. Complete the registration process.
    1. Acknowledgement of the system.
    2. Fill out contact information.
    3. Fill out the mailing or business location address.
  7. Congratulations, you will be taken to your account dashboard. You are now registered.

Community Services Department permits

This department maintains the County's parks, trails, and recreation facilities. This is the team you'll work with if you want to advertise a vehicle for sale in the Lemon Lot, hold a special event, camp in one of the RV parks, or be a vendor at a special event.

 


Department of Public Works Utilities permits

This team handles all permits dealing with electricity, gas, water, and sewer.

 


Public Works Department permits

Public works handles the County's road, light, and building infrastructure. Permits having to do with impacting roads are all handled in this department.
