Give a Shift: Sustainable Los Alamos

Give a Shift is the County's sustainability campaign that'll explore how shifting the choices you make can protect the environment, improve your family's health, reduce costs, and continue a strong sense of community.

For 2026 and into 2027, we'll be highlighting three different ways to Give A Shift

• Zero waste
• Electrification and energy efficiency
• Alternative transportation

Zero waste explores ways to reduce waste through reusing items, preventing food waste, recycling, and exploring composting options. Scrappy will be our guide for these efforts.

Electrification explores tangible ways to transition to electrical equipment, weatherizing your home, making time-of-use work for you, water conservation, and other ways to conserve energy. Blinky will be our main guide, with Droppy lending a hand from time to time.

Alternative transportation explores ways you can travel around town without the use of a personal vehicle. Shift will be our guide as we also learn about the different County efforts to make it easier to get around by foot, bike, or bus.
