Due to ongoing dry conditions and prevailing high winds, Fire Marshal Colorado Cordova of the Los Alamos Fire Department (LAFD) has elevated fire restrictions to Stage 2, effective May 28, 2026 within the boundaries of Los Alamos County to safeguard public health and safety, as well as protect lands, structures, natural and historical artifacts.
Although Los Alamos County is not officially part of a wastewater surveillance program, BioBot Analytics monitors for SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19), Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV), and Influenza A and B in the community. Samples are collected weekly from two sites: one in Los Alamos and one in White Rock. The latest data, provided by BioBot at no cost to the County, is displayed in the graphs below. (Note: The turnaround time from when the sample is collected and analyzed to when the results are available to the county can take up to 10 days or more.)
