37th Street & Pinon Park Project: ADA Update and Renovations

These playgrounds were identified as needing improvements to meet American with Disabilities Act accessibility requirements and as needing improvements based on the CSD Integrated Master Plan. The renovation will improve safety, access, and update amenities.

9th Street

This project includes the removal and replacement of deteriorated sidewalks, curbs, and gutter as well as the installation of new ADA compliant ramps along both the west and east sides of 9th Street from Myrtle to Iris Street.

ADA Audit and Transition Plan

Implementation of the ADA Audit Transition Plan that was finalized in 2022. The ADA Audit and Transition Plan is a federal requirement to identify gaps in outdoor recreation amenities and remove barriers that prevent use by those with disabilities. The implementation is prioritized by short-, mid-, and long-term transitions to bring out of compliance items into compliance.

Artificial Turf Study

CSD has hired NV5 to assess the benefits of artificial turf for high school baseball and softball fields at North Mesa Sports Complex and Overlook Park. This conversion is part of the CSD Integrated Master Plan's short-term projects. Artificial turf provides advantages over natural grass, such as year-round playability in various weather conditions, reduced maintenance needs, and consistent play.

Bathtub Row Reconstruction Project

The project consists of a full reconstruction of Bathtub Row between Central Avenue and Peach Street, Nectar Street from Peach Street to 15th Street, and a portion utility work on 15th St. to Iris Street.

Downtown Los Alamos and White Rock Transit Center Study

The primary objective of this study is to evaluate the feasibility, benefits, and costs of locations within Los Alamos County (Downtown Los Alamos and White Rock) that could serve as a transit center/transit-orientated development to enhance transit services for the commuters and residents.

East Park and North Mesa Athletic Court Renovation

This project includes the renovation of the East Park basketball court and the North Mesa tennis/pickleball courts.

Ice Rink Temporary Chiller

The temporary chiller was removed from the ice rink on May 21,2025. On the same date, the permanent chiller was delivered to the Ice Rink and placed in its final resting location.
