Due to ongoing dry conditions and prevailing high winds, Fire Marshal Colorado Cordova of the Los Alamos Fire Department (LAFD) has elevated fire restrictions to Stage 2, effective May 28, 2026 within the boundaries of Los Alamos County to safeguard public health and safety, as well as protect lands, structures, natural and historical artifacts.

Los Alamos County is extending the deadline for the second Plan Los Alamos Community Survey through August 1 to provide additional time for residents, business owners, community partners, and members of the local workforce to share their ideas and help shape the future of the community.
This second survey seeks input on vision scenarios developed from feedback received during the initial phases of the County’s 2026 Comprehensive Plan Update. Community input is a critical part of the planning process, and the survey results will help guide development of a draft of the Comprehensive Plan Update to be released to the public in August of this year.
Residents and community members are encouraged to take this opportunity to provide their feedback by completing the survey online at lacnm.com/CompPlanSurvey. Every response helps ensure the updated Comprehensive Plan reflects the needs, priorities, and vision of the Los Alamos community.
