Due to ongoing dry conditions and prevailing high winds, Fire Marshal Colorado Cordova of the Los Alamos Fire Department (LAFD) has elevated fire restrictions to Stage 2, effective May 28, 2026 within the boundaries of Los Alamos County to safeguard public health and safety, as well as protect lands, structures, natural and historical artifacts.

Los Alamos, New Mexico—With the ongoing primary election and the start of the summer concert series, the decision was made to postpone the construction of the new EV chargers at Mesa Public Library for two weeks.
Patrons of the library and anyone else visiting downtown can once again park in the main parking lot or drive up to the library and election ballot drop boxes. For those who don’t take advantage of the extended ACT bus service to attend tomorrow’s concert, this parking lot will be available.
Construction will resume on Monday, June 8, 2026, so all vehicles will need to be removed by the evening of Sunday, June 7. Construction of the new EV charging stations is expected to take two months, so the lot will be closed until July 30, 2026.
