The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for Los Alamos County, with temperatures expected to drop below freezing tonight. In response to these conditions, Acting County Manager Linda Matteson has ordered a 10 a.m. start for all non-essential County government services and facilities on Friday, Nov. 8.

County Traffic and Streets crews will continue to clear the major roads and streets according to the FY2025 Snow and Ice Plan. To aid in these efforts and ensure public safety, residents are asked to:
Unfortunately due to a power outage affecting sections of Northern New Mexico, the Traffic and Streets staff report the My Commute webpage, which provides live updates on the conditions of major roadways in Los Alamos County, is currently unavailable. Once the power is restored, they predict it will be functional again.
Drivers are urged to reduce speeds and exercise caution if travel is necessary during the storm.
