Due to ongoing dry conditions and prevailing high winds, Fire Marshal Colorado Cordova of the Los Alamos Fire Department (LAFD) has elevated fire restrictions to Stage 2, effective May 28, 2026 within the boundaries of Los Alamos County to safeguard public health and safety, as well as protect lands, structures, natural and historical artifacts.
NM-4 is now closed at the main entrance of Valles Caldera National Preserve due to active firefighting activities on the McCauley Springs Fire.
This project will replace pipeline segments and valves, rehabilitate vaults, and phase out an unused pipe gallery which is leaking at the Twin Tank site. Transmission lines serving the Pajarito Tanks 4 & 4A will be reconfigured in preparation for painting Pajarito Tank 4A in 2027.
The design phase of this project is taking place through March 2025, followed by construction beginning in June 2025.
