Due to ongoing dry conditions and prevailing high winds, Fire Marshal Colorado Cordova of the Los Alamos Fire Department (LAFD) has elevated fire restrictions to Stage 2, effective May 28, 2026 within the boundaries of Los Alamos County to safeguard public health and safety, as well as protect lands, structures, natural and historical artifacts.

Meet one-on-one with staff from the Building and Planning teams to discuss your project, ask permit questions, and learn about the requirements for completing work yourself or hiring a licensed contractor. Whether you're planning a new fence, carport, addition, or another home improvement project, staff will be available to provide guidance.
Attendees are encouraged to bring photos, drawings, or project plans for review.
