Code Ordinance 02-365 was approved by the Los Alamos Board of Public Utilities on April 16, 2025, and adopted by the Los Alamos County Council on June 10, 2025. This ordinance scheduled two electric rate changes: on July 1, 2025, and July 1, 2026. Additionally, this ordinance effectively switches electric billing for residential customers to a Time of Use and Residential Demand structure effective no sooner than July 1, 2026. This rate will go live as soon as the DPU's billing software can bill residential customers under this new rate structure.

Residential Demand Charge = $1.00 per KW for the single highest hour of electric use in the billing cycle
Residential customers who have previously opted out of the Automated Metering Infrastructure standard are not eligible for TOU and Residential Demand. These customers will be billed at the following rates once the TOU and Residential Demand rates are in place.
