If you're curious how you may be impacted by the switch to Time of Use and Residential Demand when that rate structure goes live, here are a some helpful tools.

Bill conversion calculator

Pull the electric usage from your current bill to see what your bill total would be for the same usage under Time of Use and Residential Demand. This conversion calculator assumes your maximum usage in a single hour in the billing period will total 7 KW and that you'll use 31% of your electricity during the peak hours from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. These assumptions are based on industry averages. Our billing system is being updated to include this top demand point on bills as well as peak and off-peak totals for your usage. In the meantime, you can change these averages to whatever you feel may be more realistic for you or leave them at the industry averages.

Time-of-Use and residential demand calculator

If you want to see what impact shifting some of your usage outside of peak hours may have, this billing calculator is what you're looking for. Keep in mind that the kWh values listed represent continuous use for an hour and that many of our electric appliances are not used continuously that long. For instance, hair dryers pull a lot of electricity but only for a short period of time.

Metering portal

To see your electric usage by hours, days, months, and so on, you can log in to the Automated Metering Portal. This page gives detailed instructions for getting logged on to the portal for the first time. If you have already logged on in the past, the link to get you directly there is ladpu.com/mymeters.

If you're interested in seeing your electric usage by hour, this information is currently shown in one-day increments. Though not ideal, it is fairly simple to click through a billing period to determine the peak usage this way.

  1. Log onto the portal.
  2. Click on Usage Details in the left sidebar.
  3. In the gray space below your name in the upper right, click on Customer and then select Electric.
  4. You'll see options in the bar chart area for changing the time increment. Click on the button that says "24 hours." Though you'll only see one 24-hour period, you can use the arrow buttons to move through multiple days. When you see a spike in daily data, hover over the highest bar to see the corresponding kwh usage.
