Consultation on Ashley Pond Park Safety Improvements

Feedback survey of the design concepts closes at 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, June 28, 2026

Rendering of a park with large boulders and native plants running along a sidewalk and roadway.

History of this project

There have been all too many news stories of vehicles driving into pedestrian areas. As a stop-gap measure, we installed temporary, concrete road construction barriers along Trinity Drive during the 2025 summer concert season. In order to maintain this safety barrier for 2026, the concrete barriers returned and were painted green to at least reduce the aesthetic distraction. The goal of this project is to design and build the permanent barrier solution that complements the park by the 2027 summer concert season.

Public thoughts on the design concepts

We have worked with Groundworks Studio to develop three preliminary concepts of how we can provide a safety barrier to keep vehicles from entering Ashley Pond Park from Trinity Drive. We invite you to review the three options and provide input on your preferred style and reason why. We are gathering public input through June 28 (we accelerated the closing date as we were able to get all the board and council meetings scheduled earlier).
