Due to ongoing dry conditions and prevailing high winds, Fire Marshal Colorado Cordova of the Los Alamos Fire Department (LAFD) has enacted fire restrictions to Stage 1, effective April 28, within the boundaries of Los Alamos County to safeguard public health and safety, as well as protect lands, structures, natural and historical artifacts. Los Alamos County is pleased to announce the results of the community broadband network naming survey. Thanks to enthusiastic participation, “Atomic Fiber” won in a landslide, taking more than two-thirds of the votes.
Atomic Fiber will be publicly owned infrastructure just like a road or sewer line. As an open-access network, multiple Internet Service Providers (ISPs) will use the same fiber to offer service, allowing for greater competition, more choice, and potentially lower costs for consumers if they choose to use the network.
