Due to ongoing dry conditions and prevailing high winds, Fire Marshal Colorado Cordova of the Los Alamos Fire Department (LAFD) has elevated fire restrictions to Stage 2, effective May 28, 2026 within the boundaries of Los Alamos County to safeguard public health and safety, as well as protect lands, structures, natural and historical artifacts.

Did you know that Los Alamos County hosts an annual mud volleyball tournament?
We invite you to register to have a mud-slinging good time at our round-robin High Mountain Mudfest, a volleyball tournament for adults and teens on co-ed competitive teams! All adult teams must be co-ed teams and have at least 3 women & 3 men. All teen teams must be between the ages of 12 and 17, must be co-ed teams and have at least 3 girls & 3 boys. Additionally, teens can register as a team or as an individual to be placed on a team. We need a minimum of 4 teams to host this event.
Footwear is required, and the use of duct tape is highly recommended to keep shoes on. Register online or in person at the Walk-up Aquatic Center. Free admission for spectators.
