Feeling adventurous and techy this Halloween? Join the Department of Public Utilities (DPU), the Los Alamos Public Library, and the Los Alamos Little Theatre for the Ghost Hunt on October 31, from 3-5 p.m. at the Performing Arts Center (PAC).

Located at 1670 Nectar Street, the PAC, most notoriously haunted by the Little Theatre, is one of the oldest buildings in Los Alamos. This free, open house-style event is opening the PAC to ghost hunters and energy sleuths alike. A variety of ghost hunting devices will be available to use in the exploration of this historic building. Little Theatre performers will float around to provide first-hand interactions with the space, if the tools aren’t convincing enough.

The Ghost Hunt first appeared four years ago to launch the FLIR thermal cameras as part of the Public Library’s Library of Things. The thermal camera remains the featured device for seeking out ghost…er, inefficiencies in homes.

Thermal cameras use infrared technology to show areas of poor insulation in walls and ceilings, sources of air leaks in doors and windows, and even appliances that are operating inefficiently. When paired with the DIY Energy Assessment checklist (https://ladpu.com/DIYenergy) occupants can improve the comfort, health, and efficiency of living and working spaces.
