Los Alamos, New Mexico—Following up on last week’s education session on the County’s Automated License Plate Recognition (ALPR) system, we’ve added a community discussion page on the County website. You can watch the session and review all the questions and comments that were submitted during the session. We received nearly 200 questions and we’re actively working on providing answers.
As part of the ongoing conversation, we’re inviting community members to share their thoughts and ideas about the system in several ways. First, we’ve added a place where you can leave your comments between now and Friday at noon (when we have to submit items to be published in the Council’s agenda). All submitted comments will be attached to the published Council agenda and reviewed by the County Council as part of next week’s presentation by Chief of Police Dino Sgambellone. If you miss commenting there, once the Council agenda is posted, you can provide comment using the eComment tool. Finally, you can also send an email to County Council directly: CountyCouncil@losalamosnm.gov.
We look forward to continuing the conversation on how we best protect individual rights and freedoms while also allowing our hard-working Police Department to leverage the best available technology to keep this community one of the safest in the nation.
