About the Project
Los Alamos County is planning improvements to the North Mesa Picnic Grounds to update aging facilities, improve accessibility, and enhance the experience for residents and visitors. The project will focus on renovating picnic shelters, restrooms, and other park amenities to meet current accessibility standards and better serve the community.
Why Are Improvements Needed?
The North Mesa Picnic Grounds have outdated amenities and have been identified in the County's Community Services Department Integrated Master Plan and ADA Transition Plan as needing maintenance and accessibility improvements. Renovations will help ensure the area is accessible to people of all abilities and remains a welcoming place for community gatherings and outdoor recreation.
What Will Be Considered?
The project will focus on improvements to the existing picnic area, including:
- Upgrades to picnic shelters and restrooms
- Improved accessibility to park facilities and amenities
- Maintenance and renovation of aging infrastructure
- Improvements that support safe, comfortable, and inclusive public use
Community Engagement
Community input is an important part of the planning process. Los Alamos County has hosted public meetings and a community design workshop to gather feedback on the future of the North Mesa Picnic Grounds.
The community survey for this project is now closed. Thank you to everyone who took the time to share feedback.
